Honed Concrete
Honed Concrete Finish
Honed concrete is the preferred finish for outdoor settings, which produces a hard, smooth and matte finish due to the grinding process. Honed concrete is used the majority of the time in:
- driveways
- footpaths
- pool surrounds
- patios
The surface is ground to a specific level determined by our team on-site. A penetrative sealer will be added to the finish concrete. The penetrative
sealer also adds an enhanced coloured finish to the concrete whilst maintaining the slip rating required.
How is Concrete Honed
There are a few stages that go into honing concrete. Depending on the desired aggregate of the surface, our team will grind back the surface of the original concrete.
Once the desired depth is met, our team can grind the surface back even further to remove any light damage such as scratches, leaving a smooth finish.
This is then sealed with our penetrating sealer to achieve a non-slip result.
Advantages of Honed Concrete
Long-lasting – Honed concrete is extremely durable, which is why it can handle heavy vehicle loads in residential and commercial settings.
High anti-slip resistance – Honed concrete is typically used for pool surrounds as the penetrative sealer used gives the concrete a very high slip rating.
Maintains colour – Regardless of the age, honed concrete for a large period of time will retain the colour it originally had.
